Transplanting is the moving of a tree that is already planted to a new location. This involves digging / excavating and shaping a root ball from the soil and roots around the tree, and moving it to a newly dug hole for it to grow. The creating / and maintaining of enough good roots and soil in the making of the root ball is the very key to success.
Q: When should you transplant?
Spring and fall, are usually the best seasons. Early spring is when the trees are still dormant, before they bud, and fall is the time just before the ground freezes.
